Ulster Comhaltas proudly presents a very special debut performance of a new suite of music dedicated to Ulster. The suite of music was commissioned by Ulster Comhaltas with support from The Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
The suite is composed and arranged by Monaghan - Michael Rooney. Michael needs no introduction to followers of Traditional Irish Music and his composition works are critically acclaimed globally.
The suite follows the path of the province in a historical context leading to the present day and the bright future of our place and people. The music follows a number of historical events in the province, marking key milestones such as The Flight of The Earls, Industry within the province and reflects on ongoing issues such as Emigration.
The carefully curated performance is performed by the newly-formed Ulster Comhaltas Orchestra featuring some of the finest traditional and classical performers within the province of Ulster.
Speaking on the suite - PRO of Ulster Comhaltas, James McCaffrey commented, "This initiative was developed throughout the lockdown period through the co-ordination of Ulster Council, Michael Rooney and The Arts Council of Northern Ireland. Months of hard work bringing this project off the ground, has been combined with the finest talent from within Ulster and Michael Rooney's expertise and ability. This will truly be a historic performance and is not to be missed."
